Can luck strike twice? Kings choose Fox as lottery rep

The Kings won their NBA draft lottery coin flip with the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday, and they now have their representative for the virtual event.

De'Aaron Fox once again will try to be the Kings' lucky charm when it comes to the draft.

Fox was the Kings' rep when they jumped all the way up from No. 7 to the No. 2 pick in the 2018 draft. The selection obviously was out of the point guard's hands, and former general manager Vlade Divac decided to choose big man Marvin Bagley over Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic. The rest is history.

The Kings have the 12th-best chance of winning the lottery after Monday's coin flip. Sacramento has a 1.3 percent chance of getting the top pick, 1.4 percent chance of selecting No. 2, 1.6 percent of moving to No. 3 and a 1.8 percent chance of drafting at No. 4. The Kings have a 6.1 percent chance of landing in the top four, an 86.1 percent chance of drafting No. 12 overall and a 7.6 percent chance of dropping down to No. 13.

After failing to make the playoffs for the 14th straight season, the Kings can't afford another huge mistake in the draft. Hopefully for them, Fox's luck brings them a star.
