On Thursday, the NBA and NBA Players Association agreed to a deal to play the 2021 NBA All-Star Game on March 7, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported.
Kings guard De'Aaron Fox made it clear Wednesday after Sacramento's win over the Boston Celtics that he think it's a terrible idea for the league to host the exhibition.

"I’m going to be brutally honest, I think it’s stupid," Fox said, via Jason Jones of The Athletic. "If we have to wear masks and do all this for a regular game, what’s the point of bringing the All-Star Game back?"
It's hard to disagree with Fox here. While the event is going to help raise money for Historically Black Colleges and Universities, the NBA could easily write a check and not ask its players to congregate for a meaningless mid-season exhibition during a global pandemic.
The NFL, choosing to err on the side of caution, elected to name Pro Bowlers but not host the game.
Fox did say that if he is an All-Star he would go in order to avoid a fine.

"But obviously money makes the world go round, so it is what it is. I’m not really worried about, if I’m voted in, so be it," Fox said.
"You know you get fined if you’re supposed to be in it and you’re not hurt and decide not to play? That’s a hefty fine so hell yeah I would play in it. I hope I don’t fined for staying that.
"S--t."

Following their win over the Celtics, the Kings now are 10-11 through 21 games and sit in 11th place in the Western Conference. However, they only are one-and-a-half games out of fifth place in the crowded Western Conference.
Fox is averaging 22.3 points and 6.6 assists per game this season. Those are solid numbers, but the West is loaded with top-tier point guards so it's likely that Fox won't have to make the voyage to All-Star game in a month.
