HB gives Bagley's dad special gift after Kings beat Pistons

Marvin Bagley III’s dad might have been treated better than he was at Golden 1 Center on Sunday.

As the Bagleys made their return to Sacramento for the first time since the Kings traded their former No. 2 overall pick to the Detroit Pistons nine months ago, Bagley III was greeted with loud boos from Kings fans before Sacramento hosted the Pistons.

Meanwhile, his father, Marvin Bagley II, was welcomed back with a special gift.

Harrison Barnes gave Bagley II his game-worn jersey after the Kings’ 137-129 win over the Pistons.

“To coach, much love,” Barnes wrote on the back of his 2022-23 Kings’ City Edition jersey, along with his signature.

Bagley II gave Barnes a shoutout on his Instagram story and thanked him for the kind gesture.

Bagley III also got a shoutout on social media, but it wasn't nearly as nice as his dad's. Giants ace Logan Webb, who was born and raised in Rocklin, CA and is a huge Kings fan, threw major shade at Bagley III on Twitter.

The Bagley era in Sacramento ended in February 2022 when Sacramento dealt Bagley to Detroit as part of a four-team deal that included the Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks. The Kings acquired Donte DiVincenzo (now with the Golden State Warriors),Trey Lyles and Josh Jackson from the Pistons.

The Kings and Bagley III eventually parting ways was expected due to injuries and inconsistent play holding the Duke product back from showing off his true potential.

The good news for him is the next time the two teams play each other on Dec. 16, it will be on his playing field at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
