Murray's awesome motto will help establish new Kings' culture

In his rookie season with the Kings, Keegan Murray is focused solely on winning.

That's music to the ears for a franchise that hasn't made the playoffs for an NBA record 16-straight seasons.

Murray joined the "Posted Up" podcast with Yahoo Sports NBA Insider Chris Haynes, where he was asked about competing for personal accolades like Rookie of the Year.

"I think if we reach our team goals, individual goals will come," Murray said. "I think if we reach our team goals and I play the way I know I can play, the individual goals will come. Rookie of the Year, first-team All-Rookie, whatever you want to say. I just want to focus on the team and I know winning will come with a lot of good things. That happened when I was at Iowa, so why not have it happen in the NBA?"

Murray's focused on winning and believes a W is the most valuable form of currency.

"Good things are going to happen," Murray added. "I'd rather get Ws than checks, I think that's just kind of my mindset going into this season."

The 21-year-old is wise beyond his years and certainly has a point. Team success should trickle down to individual success for young players like Murray and Davion Mitchell and continued success for veterans such as De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.

Only time will tell if Murray and the Kings are able to collect enough Ws to punch their ticket to the postseason.
