Kings' Mitchell embracing challenge of defending Steph

Davion Mitchell has lived up to his amazing "off-night" nickname through the first two games of his NBA career. After locking up Damian Lillard and Donovan Mitchell, the challenge ratchets up Sunday night as Steph Curry and the Warriors roll into Golden 1 Center.

Mitchell joined "The Old Man and the Three" podcast along with Kings teammate Tyrese Haliburton, and said while he respects the challenge of defending Curry, he feels the Kings have a "really good" game plan to slow down the reigning NBA scoring champion.

"I gotta be in the best shape of my life tomorrow, I know that," Mitchell said. "I mean because just watching him, especially like the Clippers game, I didn't see him stop moving throughout that whole game, when he was passing he was always moving, setting screens, getting someone else open, they were getting layups and he was just getting wide-open threes. I'm like 'Man, I don't know what I'm going to do.'

"I think our game plan is a really good game plan for him. Because we got a lot of guys that can switch and guard, so I'm not really too worried about it. I'm not going to be the only one guarding him, it's going to be other guys on him."

Curry went off for 45 points in the Warriors' win over the LA Clippers on Thursday, knocking down eight of 13 3-point attempts and pulling down 10 rebounds for the second consecutive game.

The folks over at StatMuse did a great job visualizing the struggles of the two All-Star guards Mitchell has faced off against so far in his NBA career.

Mitchell won't be the only King to defend Curry during Sunday's game, but all eyes will be on the matchups between the two throughout the night in Sacramento.

Based on his comments, Mitchell sounds like he is mentally and physically ready for the challenge.
