Kings guard added to Skills Challenge over All-Star weekend

Buddy Hield's All-Star weekend just got  busier.

Hield's already playing for the World Team alongside fellow Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic in Friday night's Rising Stars game. Now, he'll be participating in Saturday night's Skills Challenge as well, the NBA announced on Monday.

The second-year guard will replace Utah Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell, who's now taking part in the Dunk Contest on Saturday. Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon opted out of the Dunk Contest with a hip injury on Monday, opening the door for Mitchell and then Hield.

Hield's entry marks the third straight year a Kings player is competing in the skills challenge. DeMarcus Cousins took part each of the last two seasons, including a day before he was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in a deal that netted Hield in 2017.
