Kings keep quiet as free agency hits fever pitch

It’s a blur. As fast as you can refresh a twitter feed, NBA free agents are coming off the board. In less than 24 hours, the 2018 free agent class is almost gone and the Sacramento is still sitting on a giant stack of cash.

Following the bombshell announcement that superstar LeBron James was headed to Los Angeles to join the Lakers, a the market continued to shrink.

Hezonja was a known target of the Kings and according to multiple reports, they were in on the discussions. Whether Sacramento went as high as his one-year, $6.5 million offer is unknown at this time.

At 6-foot-8, 215 pounds, Hezonja can play either forward position, although he’s better suited at the three. He posted 9.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 22.1 minutes per game in Orlando.

Following the Hezonja news, another Magic forward came off the board.

Sacramento viewed Gordon as more of a power forward than a three. At 22-years-old, he fit the team’s player arc, but it was clear early on that the Magic was likely to match any offer for the high-flying big.

The Kings still have roughly $19 million in cap space to spend, but they are quickly running out of free agent options. They still have the ability to take on salary via trade, but so far, they are bystanders in a wild free-agent period.
