The Kings officially can begin plotting their journey to a return to the playoffs, as the NBA released 2022-23 regular-season schedules for all 30 teams on Wednesday.

Sacramento will begin the 2022-23 NBA season with a matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 19 at Golden 1 Center. It’s the first time the Kings have opened a new campaign at home since the 2018-19 season.

New head coach Mike Brown will have a chance to get comfortable in his new home right away, as four of the Kings’ first five games are at Golden 1 Center.

Sacramento’s first road test is scheduled for Oct. 23 against the defending champion Golden State Warriors at Chase Center, where Brown will game plan against coach Steve Kerr for the first time since being hired away this summer.

The Warriors make their two annual trips to Sacramento on Nov. 13 and April 7.

Former Kings players Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield, both sent to Indiana as part of the Domantas Sabonis blockbuster trade in February, will make their return to Golden 1 Center on Nov. 30 when the Indiana Pacers fly out for their annual visit to Sacramento.

Sabonis, the other big piece of that blockbuster trade, didn’t suit up for the Kings-Pacers clash in Indiana last March after the deal, so he’ll get his first chance to play at Gainbridge Fieldhouse as a member of the Kings on Feb. 3.

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers will visit Golden 1 Center on Dec. 21 and Jan. 7. All four games of the Kings-Lakers rivalry will be finished by mid-January, as the teams clash for the final time Jan. 18 at Crypto.com Arena.

The Kings will be home for the holidays in December to enjoy their longest homestand of the season, which lasts six games. But an arduous seven-game road trip awaits them before the All-Star break from Jan. 28 to Feb. 8.

Sacramento's regular season will wrap up April 9 with a road game against two-time MVP Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets.

Let the countdown to basketball begin.
