SACRAMENTO -- Harry Giles’ season is over.

Coming into Tuesday evening, the rookie had missed the last six games with a left thigh contusion. While the 20-year-old hasn’t had a setback, he continues to have stiffness in the quad area.

With the playoffs out of reach and just five games remaining in the season, the team has decided to err on the side of caution and shut him down.

Giles worked his way into the rotation at mid-season and became a valuable member of the squad. After redshirting last season with the Kings, the former Duke standout played in 58 games this season with Sacramento.

The 6-foot-10 big posted seven points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 14.1 minutes per game off the bench. He was originally injured in the second quarter of the Kings matchup with the Dallas Mavericks on March 21.

He has a history of knee injuries, but his current setback has nothing to do with previous surgeries.

Giles is expected to resume full basketball activities and start his summer program on schedule.
