BOX SCORE

Sometimes, it’s just not your night. From the moment the Kings stepped on the floor Friday night at Vivint Smart Home Arena, nothing went right.

The officials called early fouls. The Kings missed early shots. The Utah Jazz took an early lead, and never gave it back.

In one of the more lopsided games of the season, the Kings fell in Utah by a final of 119-98 -- and that doesn’t even capture the entire story.

Here are three takeaways as the Kings (39-41) fell to two games under the .500 mark with just two games remaining in the season:

The Start

Utah jumped all over Sacramento in the first five minutes, starting the game on a 16-1 run. The Kings couldn’t buy a bucket, missing their first nine shots from the field before Buddy Hield finally got a shot to fall.

The game didn’t improve much from there, and the Kings took one of their worst beatings on the season. Their shots wouldn’t fall, they turned the ball over non-stop and they couldn’t get a stop on the defensive end.

Grayson Allen Takeover

In the NBA, you never really know who is going to have a big night. One game it’s James Harden. Three days later, Grayson Allen is torching you for a career-high.

The rookie guard hit his first eight shots in the first half, scoring 19 points before the teams could get back to the locker room.

Allen finished the game with 23 points on 10-for-14 shooting, besting his previous high of 14 points.

Injury to Insult

Not only did the Kings get crushed, but two players went down in the first half.

De’Aaron Fox came down on Allen’s foot after hitting a jumper, and was forced to head to the locker room with a sore right foot. The second-year guard finished with four points, an assist and a steal in eight minutes of action.

With Willie Cauley-Stein away from the team due to personal reasons, veteran Kosta Koufos found his way to the court in the first half. Late in the second quarter, Koufos grabbed his left calf and limped straight to the locker room.

Koufos was diagnosed with a left calf strain, and could not return to the game. He finished the night with six points and four rebounds in 12 minutes off the Kings’ bench.
