Kings viewed as slight favorites over Spurs in NBA restart opener

Everyone from the Ringer to Altitude Sports have forgotten that the Kings are in the NBA’s Orlando bubble. The oddsmakers did not.

The Kings are a 2.5-point favorite over the San Antonio Spurs for their opener on Friday.

The two teams have split the season series, but Sacramento is 4-1 over San Antonio over the last two seasons, and the Spurs are without seven-time All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge, who will miss the restart after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder.

Oddsmakers haven’t been kind to the Kings during the restart, listing them at a +50000 for winning the NBA championship and a +1100 of representing the Western Conference in the playoffs as the eighth seed.

Las Vegas has the Kings winning 3.5 games during the restart. The Portland Trail Blazers and Memphis Grizzlies also are predicted to win 3.5 games out of the eight during the seeding tournament leading up to the play-in game(s).

The New Orleans Pelicans, who have the easiest schedule out of all of the teams battling for the final playoff spot, have a projected win total of 5.5.

If Sacramento has any chance of snapping their 13-season playoff drought, they’ll need to start off the tournament with a win over the Spurs. San Antonio has a 22-year playoff streak on the line, but they come into the eight-game restart a half-game behind the Pelicans, Trail Blazers and Kings in the race for the eighth seed.
