Kings' Walton mum on Bagley's reported refusal to enter game

Marvin Bagley III's tumultuous tenure with the Kings doesn't seem to be getting any less rocky. The fourth-year power forward, his representation and family all have previously and publicly expressed their displeasure with his role on the team, and during Monday's 109-104 loss to the Phoenix Suns, Bagley appeared to show his disdain once again.

As ABC10's Sean Cunningham pointed out, Bagley appeared to refuse to check into the game in the second half when asked to by coach Luke Walton.

Walton was asked about the incident ahead of Sacramento's game against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, and though he neither confirmed nor denied that Bagley did indeed refuse to check into the game, he certainly seemed to suggest that was accurate.

"Our guys all know, this is what's expected out of us as a group," Walton said. "Marvin and I are constantly in communication, and today was about San Antonio, and today was a very good shootaround, and we're going into tonight. But he and everyone else knows, we need everyone this year and everyone has to be ready."

When pressed further on the matter, Walton elected to keep everything in-house.

"I'm not getting into it," he added.  "Anything that happens within our group, that's between our group. The thing that matters is people know what's expected and that we continue to move forward."

Bagley has appeared in only one game so far this season for Sacramento, and it sounds like he already turned down at least one opportunity for more playing time. After everything he and the Kings have been through, one wonders how many more chances he'll get.
