Malik Monk is taking accountability after the Kings’ 113-106 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night at Golden 1 Center.
On a night where Sacramento needed someone to step up scoring-wise with Domantas Sabonis injured, Monk struggled to make shots.
After the game, he took to Twitter to apologize to Kings fans.
The 24-year-old guard finished with eight points on 3-of-10 shooting from the field and missed all five of his 3-point attempts. He also had two rebounds, one assist, one block and one turnover.
Before Tuesday’s loss, Monk was averaging 14.3 points on 45-percent shooting from the field and 33.7 percent from behind the arc. He has been a steady addition for the Kings, whose two-way play and energetic spirit have shone bright in Sacramento this season.
Monk became an instant fan favorite in the 916, and that contagious persona is part of the reason why the responses to his tweet were so encouraging and supportive.

The good news is that in games where Monk finishes with single-digit points, he's averaging 17.1 points and 4.6 assists the next game.
And it won't take long for Monk to prove himself again to Kings fans. Sacramento again will host two-time MVP Nikola Jokić and the Nuggets on Wednesday night.
