Mitch Richmond reflects on 'tear-jerking' Kobe Bryant memorial service

It was a tough day for everyone inside a packed house at Staples Center.

The venue hosted a memorial for Kobe and Gianna Bryant on Monday, who perished in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26 in Calabasas, Calif.

NBC Sports California’s Mitch Richmond was in attendance at Monday’s service and reflected on an emotional day on "Kings Pregame Live," specifically the powerful speeches given by those closest to Kobe.

“Vanessa [Bryant] was just tremendous,” Richmond said. “A lot of tear-jerking, a lot of emotions, for her to even get up there and talk about losing loved ones.

"She talked about Gigi, how smart and intelligent she is, anything she put her mind to she accomplishes in a short period of time, and how a beautiful bond that Kobe and Gigi had."

The former King played with Bryant for two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Richmond also showed the camera the program from the ceremony, featuring beautiful photos of Kobe with his family over the years.
