NBA Draft 2019: Kings still could be active without first-round pick

For the first time since 2007, the Kings find themselves without a first-round pick and not in the lottery.

To fulfill the obligation from the 2015 trade that sent Carl Landry, Nik Stauskas and Jason Thompson to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Kings shipped their 2018 first-round pick to the Boston Celtics, who acquired the rights via the 2017 trade that allowed the 76ers to draft Markelle Fultz with the No. 1 overall pick.

The Kings will have three second-round picks Thursday night (Nos. 40. 47 and 60), and they'll have a lot of options for how to attack their draft plan.

NBC Sports California Kings Insider James Ham said on NBC Sports NBA Draft Preview Show that he believes the up-and-coming Kings will be active on draft night, but it will be hard for them to find a player who can step in right away with their current allotment of picks,
