NBA odds: Kings projected to win 37 games, finish 11th in West in 2019-20

With the growth and development of De'Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley, and with the free-agent signings of Harrison Barnes and Dewayne Dedmon, the Kings expect to take a big step forward during the 2019-20 season.

Coming off a successful 39-win season and ninth-place finish in the Western Conference, Sacramento hopes to build on that and push for a playoff spot.

But Las Vegas has a different idea.

Caesar's Palace released its win projections for the upcoming season, and the numbers aren't good for the Kings.

The Vegas sports book has set the Kings' projected win total at 37.5 games, good for 11th place in a revamped and reloaded Western Conference.

According to Caesar's, the threshold to make the playoffs in the West is 43.5 wins. After winning 39 games last season, that's not an outlandish number for the Kings to strive for. But again, the West is much deeper this season.

The Kings and their fans will use this perceived slight as motivation. They'll want to prove the doubters wrong. Fox thrives on silencing the critics.

It will be fun to see what the Kings can achieve next season. Can they take that next step and make the playoffs? Or will the oddsmakers be proven right?

We'll soon find out.
