NBA rumors: Kings picking up 2020 options for Dave Joerger's assistants

To the surprise of many, the Kings find themselves over .500 (22-21) and in the thick of a playoff race just past the midway point of the NBA season. 

Now, the Kings are reportedly set to reward the men pulling the strings from the sidelines. Sacramento will pick up the 2019-2020 options of coach Dave Joerger's assistants, according to The Athletic's Sam Amick. Joerger was already under contract through 2020, and now the rest of his staff is, too.

After winning just 27 games last season, the Kings are five wins shy of matching their 2017-18 total with 39 games remaining. They're scoring an additional seven points per 100 possessions over last season per Basketball Reference, and playing at the NBA's second-fastest pace. 

The Kings entered Sunday half-a-game out of the Western Conference's final playoff spot. The have not qualified for the postseason since 2005-06, the last year they were over .500.
