Editor's note: The above video is from Kings GM Vlade Divac's availability with the media on June 23, 2015.

The rumor mill is churning once again, or maybe regurgitating is a better term. According to a published video, the Kings are once again hot on the trail of John Calipari, the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats.

According to Rick Bucher via video snippet on Bleacher Report:

“The belief still is it’s a matter of when, not if, Karl will be removed as the head coach.

If that should happen during this season, the short-term answers are, according to owner Vivek Ranadivé -- or sources say -- he would like to move Nancy Lieberman into the head-coaching position, making a big splash by having the first female head coach in NBA history. Vlade Divac, the GM is more inclined to fill with Corliss Williamson for the remainder of the season.

But Ranadivé’s biggest dream is to have Kentucky coach John Calipari come out and coach this roster full of Kentucky players.”

Bucher then added:

“The belief is that Ranadive will take another run after Calipari plans to make an offer that Calipari simply cannot refuse.”

A league source with knowledge of the situation continues to insist that there is no validity whatsoever to reports linking John Calipari to the Kings. The source added that Bucher’s report is “based on rumor, innuendo and hearsay.”

Yes, Ranadivé has had conversations with the former New Jersey Nets coach in the past, but they have been nothing more than friendly in nature and did not include an official offer. But again, this was during the summer.

The Sacramento Kings still owe current head coach $11 million over the next three seasons. General manager Vlade Divac confirmed in an interview with KCRA’s Lisa Gonzales, that Karl will remain the head coach of the Kings for the remainder of the season.

There’s never a dull moment in Kingsland.
