Burke to Debut this Friday During Warriors/Kings Preseason Game Telecast

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – October 11, 2017 – NBC Sports Bay Area (@NBCSAuthentic) and the Golden State Warriors (@Warriors) today announced that veteran sports anchor and reporter Kerith Burke (@KerithBurke) has joined the Warriors broadcast team as a sideline reporter.  In addition, she will provide coverage across the network’s signature programs – Warriors Pregame Live, Warriors Postgame Live, Warriors Central and other NBA programming.  Burke will also present original content throughout the season across various social media platforms: Facebook (facebook.com/NBCSAuthentic); Instagram (NBCSAuthentic); Snapchat (NBCSAuthentic); and Twitter (@NBCSAuthentic & @NBCSWarriors).

Burke will join the Emmy Award-winning team of Bob Fitzgerald and Jim Barnett.  She will make her debut this Friday (October 13) at 7:30 p.m. as the Warriors host the Sacramento Kings in preseason action.

Burke has more than a decade of experience as a sports anchor and reporter at the highest levels, including her work as a sideline reporter for NBC Olympics’ coverage of Team USA women’s basketball during the team's historic gold medal run at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.  She had a long stint as an anchor and reporter at SportsNet New York (SNY) – a regional sports network for the New York Mets, New York Jets and University of Connecticut men’s and women’s basketball, with daily coverage of all the Tri-State area’s professional and collegiate sports teams. 

At SNY, Burke served as the sideline reporter for UConn men’s and women’s basketball. She covered the UConn women’s four consecutive national championships (2013-2016) and hosted the Emmy Award-winning "The Geno Auriemma Show." Burke was also an anchor and reporter for SNY’s nightly news and highlights show “Geico SportsNite.”

Prior to SNY, Burke worked in the sports departments of local news stations in Washington, Idaho and North Carolina. She was a reporter, fill-in anchor, photographer and editor. Most recently, Burke freelanced as a basketball and football reporter for the Pac-12 Network.  Burke was born outside of Seattle, WA and moved around the country with her Army family growing up. She graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Communications.

A’s & Giants-Themed Art Exhibit During Bay Bridge Series,

“Battle of the Bay Art Show” to Showcase Artwork of 40 Northern California Artists

 

“The Bridge,” New Trophy Awarded to Winner of A’s-Giants Bay Bridge Series,

on Public Display for First Time at Show

 

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – July  9, 2018 – NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California (@NBCSAuthentic) – “Home of Authentic Bay Area Sports” – and Major League Baseball’s Oakland Athletics (@Athletics) and San Francisco Giants (@SFGiants) today announced the inaugural Battle of the Bay Art Show.  The A’s and Giants-themed art exhibit takes place during the Giants and A’s annual Bay Bridge Series.

 

The Battle of the Bay Art Show features the artwork of 40 Northern California artists and will be on display on July 13-15 adjacent to AT&T Park’s Giants Vault (located inside the Lefty O’Doul Gate) and July 20-22 at the Oakland Coliseum’s Championship Plaza

The Battle of the Bay Art Show will feature A’s and Giants-themed art including legends, current players, mascots, stadiums and abstract representations. Art will be in various art forms: oil and acrylic paintings; graphite, ink and spray paint art; photography; and sculpture. The artists will have the opportunity to sell their artwork, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the A’s Community Fund and the Giants Community Fund.

 

The art show coincides with the first public display of The Bridge – the new, official trophy to be presented to the winner of the regular-season A’s and Giants Bay Bridge Series. The Bridge is made with steel salvaged from the original East Span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.

 

The design and construction of The Bridge is a collaborative effort by Scientific Art Studio – whose work includes two popular features inside AT&T Park’s Fan Lot, the Giant Glove and Coca-Cola Bottle Slide – and The Crucible, an Oakland-based industrial arts school.  For more information, click HERE and HERE.

Each All-Star Teacher Award Runner-Up to Receive $2,000 for His/Her School

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – June 21, 2018 – NBC Sports Bay Area (@NBCSAuthentic) announced today that Cori Starr of Northgate High School in Walnut Creek, Calif. is the winner of the 2018 All-Star Teacher Award, presented by Provident Credit Union (@ProvidentCU).  Starr has been awarded $20,000 for her school.  In addition, each All-Star Teacher Award runner-up will receive $2,000 for his/her school.

In its 12th year, the All-Star Teacher Award recognizes middle and high school teachers in Northern and Central California for their extraordinary dedication to their students and significant presence within their communities.  An esteemed panel of judges selected this year’s finalists based on four categories: Overall Commitment; Excellence in Teaching; Rapport with Students; and Level of Distinction.  This year’s five finalists are: Craig Bryant of Albany High School (Albany), Jennifer Click of Edison High School (Fresno), Sergio Hernandez of Katherine R. Smith Elementary (San Jose), Michael Ruibal of Black Diamond Continuation High School (Pittsburg) and 2018 All-Star Teacher Cori Starr of Northgate High School (Walnut Creek)

Since its inception in 2007, the All-Star Teacher Award program has donated $20,000 to public schools in Northern and Central California.  For the eighth straight year, NBC Sports Bay Area has teamed up with Provident Credit Union to award the winning teacher’s school $20,000, up from $10,000 in past years.

This year’s elite panel of judges consists of Doug Bartlett, Senior Marketing Director, BART; Benito Delgado-Olson, Executive Director and Founder, K to College; John Haggarty, VP Marketing of Provident Credit Union;  Lorena Hernandez, Director of Community Investment, Comcast California; Detra Paige, Director of Community Relations, Oakland Athletics;  and Sue Petersen, Executive Director of the Giants Community Fund.
