As member of the Marlins (2003-2007), Willis won NL Rookie of the Year honors in 2003 and was instrumental in the Marlins’ World Series championship run. In 2005, he became the 12th African American pitcher to win 20 games in a season, joining the exclusive “Black Aces” club, a group of black pitchers who have won at least 20 games in a single season. Willis also played for the Detroit Tigers (2008-2010), Arizona Diamondbacks (2010) and Cincinnati Reds (2011). In 2015, he joined FOX Sports as an MLB studio analyst, and he will continue his duties with that network. Willis was born in Oakland and attended Encinal High School in Alameda.
