Bair's Top Three Raiders-Seahawks Matchups
OAK (0-7) vs. SEA (4-3)
In the final week of the preseason, Derek Carr torched the Seahawks for 143 passing yards and three touchdowns. He'll hope to duplicate that as he tries to lead the Raiders to their first win. Kickoff in Seattle is scheduled for 1:25 p.m. PST on Sunday.
Matchup No. 3: Mychal Rivera vs. Kam Chancellor
The Raiders passing game runs better when Rivera’s an active producer, and that’s something the Seahawks would prefer to avoid. They use a number of players to cover tight ends, but Chancellor is particularly effective against them as part of a strong, notoriously physical secondary
Matchup No. 2: Khalil Mack vs. Marshawn Lynch
Mack and the Raiders are on a collision course with the NFL’s toughest runner. Lynch runs with a physicality rarely matched in the NFL, someone hard to take down alone. Mack will be an important part of a run defense that must slow Lynch to stand a chance against Seattle.
Matchup No. 1: Derek Carr vs. Richard Sherman
Carr has seen Sherman once but won’t take anything from his previous meeting, and rightfully so. The Seahawks will play far different, with an aggressive scheme and plenty of game tape to study. Carr understands the difficult task ahead, but is excited about playing one of the NFL’s best.
