Derek Carr breaks silence: 'Surgery couldn't have gone better'

ALAMEDA – Derek Carr had successful surgery to repair a broken right fibula on Tuesday morning in Los Angeles.

The Raiders quarterback confirmed that fact on Twitter later in the afternoon.

“Surgery couldn't have gone better!,” Carr wrote. “Received great news! Already started the recovery process! Thank you for all of your prayers as I heal up!”

Carr got hurt late in Saturday’s victory over Indianapolis. He was sacked by Colts linebacker Trent Cole, who whipped Carr around while bringing him down. Carr’s right ankle got trapped underneath his body wasn’t able to withstand the impact.

Derek Carr’s brother David Carr said on NFL Network – he’s an analyst for the station – that Derek’s initial recovery timetable is 6-8 weeks. That makes it extremely unlikely Derek Carr will play again this season.

Carr has remained in good spirits despite the significant injury, and is expected to be back in the Raiders facility as soon as possible to help the team prepare for the postseason.

“I know he’s not going to take time off or be away from this building if he doesn’t have to,” Raiders running back Latavius Murray said. “That’s the kind of guy he is. The most important thing for him right now is getting rest and getting better.”

Here’s Carr’s post-surgery Tweet:

Antonio Brown is now a member of the Raiders -- which means he is not going to play for the Bills despite some strange rumors he would be Buffalo-bound.

So, naturally, Brown made sure to put a reaction on Instagram to double-down on this:

This is in addition to him saying it was "Fake news" at the beginning of the month:

And anything sports-related and bring Drake into the mix is very much appreciated.

It appears Brown is more than happy with his decision to sport silver and black.

Jared Cook posts appreciation to Raider Nation as he nears deal with Saints

With the Raiders making plenty of moves during the offseason, that meant some players would be saying their goodbyes.

That was the case with tight end Jared Cook who is nearing a deal with the Saints.

He said his goodbyes via his Instagram:

NBC Sports California's Scott Bair said Cook leaves behind a very successful season with catching 68 passes for 896 yards and six touchdowns. Numbers Derek Carr would surely be appreciative of.

Cook's performance certainly left an impression on the league -- the Patriots were "aggressively courting" Cook before the Saints deal as ESPN's Mike Reiss reported. That had a lot to do with Rob Gronkowski's "uncertain status."

It appeared Cook was very thankful for the time he spent with the Raiders.
