The file on Matt Flynn
Comeback over Auburn
During his senior season at LSU, Matt Flynn threw a 22-yard TD pass to Demetrius Byrd with one second left on the clock to beat Auburn 30-24 on Oct. 20, 2007.
2008 BCS Championship
Matt Flynn was named the MVP of the 2008 BCS National Championship game. He threw for 174 yards and four touchdowns in LSU's 38-24 win over Ohio State.
A seventh-round draft pick by the Packers in 2008, Matt Flynn started the final game of Green Bay's 2011-12 regular season. He took advantage, throwing for 480 yards and six touchdowns in a 45-41 victory.
Signs with Seahawks
Matt Flynn signed a three-year, $26 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks on March 18, 2012. Flynn, however, attempted just nine passes in all of 2012, riding the bench behind rookie phenom Russell Wilson.
Shipped to Oakland
Following the 2012 season, Matt Flynn was traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Oakland Raiders for two draft picks -- a 2014 fifth-round pick and a 2015 conditional pick.
The Raiders inherited Matt Flynn's $6.5 million base salary for 2013 and head coach Dennis Allen said the starting job was his to lose. He lost it, as the team named Pryor the starting quarterback prior to the season opener.
Lack of performance
Matt Flynn first got his chance to start in Silver and Black when Terrelle Pryor suffered a concussion in Week 3. Flynn was 21-for-32 for 227 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Raiders' 24-14 Week 4 loss to the Redskins. He was sacked seven times.
Dennis Allen announced that Matt McGloin leapfrogged Matt Flynn on the depth chart on Oct. 2. "It is what it is, it didn't work out," he said. Flynn undoubtedly became the highest paid emergency quarterback in the league.
