NFL draft odds: How Raiders picking Henry Ruggs made bettors money

Share

The Raiders made some sports bettors very rich last night with their selection of Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs at No. 12 in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Ruggs, surprisingly, was the first receiver off the board.

Ruggs opened at 50/1 at Caesars to be the first wide receiver selected. Placing a $100 wager on Ruggs at the time would have netted you $5,000.

Ruggs was still as high as at +600 yesterday at FanDuel Sportsbook to be the first wide receiver taken.

Oklahoma wideout CeeDee Lamb was listed as the favorite at -150 ($150 bet wins $100) and Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was listed at +180.

Meanwhile, those who bet on Javon Kinlaw's OVER/UNDER prop had mixed emotions during the 49ers-Tampa Bay Buccaneers trade last night. The OVER/UNDER for Kinlaw's draft position was 13.5.

The 49ers likely were set to take the South Carolina defensive tackle at No. 13, but traded that pick and a seventh-rounder to the Bucs for the No. 14 and No. 117 selections.

Once the Bucs selected Iowa tackle Tristan Wirfs at 13, the UNDER for Kinlaw's prop was a loss. It allowed the Niners to get their guy Kinlaw at 14, and cashed the OVER bet.

At the end of the round, the Raiders' division rival Kansas City Chiefs provided bettors with a huge profit with their first-round selection, Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The LSU running back was listed at +1200 to be the first running back selected earlier in the week at DraftKings

The first round provided lots of action for bettors, but by the end of the night, the AFC West made longshot bettors quite a good amount of cash.
