Raiders-Broncos injury report: Kelechi Osemele heading toward return

ALAMEDA -- There’s a good chance the beleaguered Raiders offensive line gets some help Monday night against the Denver Broncos.

Frontline starting guards Kelechi Osemele and Gabe Jackson missed last week's loss at Cincinnati, and it was a big deal. Chaz Green gave up three sacks while filling in for Osemele at left guard. Denzelle Good allowed five quarterback hurries at right guard with Jackson out.

Jackson won’t be back, as he's now on injured reserve with an elbow injury.

Osemele, however, is steamrolling toward a return from a two-game absence. He was a full participation in Friday’s Raiders practice, his second such session this week.

“We’re feeling a little more optimistic,” Raiders coach Jon Gruden said. “I think he’s got a much better chance of playing this week. We can sure use him.”

That would help the entire left side, including rookie left tackle Kolton Miller.

Good is expected to remain at right guard for the remainder of the season.

While the Raiders' offensive line should get better, the secondary is in jeopardy of playing without both starting cornerbacks. Daryl Worley missed his second consecutive practice with a shoulder injury. Gareon Conley remains in the concussion protocol and was limited in Friday’s practice, but he worked in individual drills without a helmet during portions of practice open to the media.

Defensive tackle Maurice Hurst also missed his second consecutive practice with an ankle injury that has bothered him for weeks.

Backup quarterback AJ McCarron returned to practice following a brief paternity leave for the birth of his son.
