ALAMEDA -- Maurice Hurst might be the Raiders defensive MVP. The rookie defensive lineman leads the team with four sacks, and has been the tenacious run player he was at the University of Michigan.

He has been consistent for a still-developing rookie, playing all across the line. He has played every game thus far, but Sunday’s contest against Kansas City is officially in jeopardy.

Hurst has missed both practices this week with an ankle injury that limited his snaps against the Baltimore Ravens.

His playing status ultimately remains uncertain, but missing practices can’t help.

The Raiders conducted a full-speed practice on Wednesday, but went off site and indoors for the fourth time in three weeks. They stayed inside the first two times due to poor air quality. They chose to stay indoors once last week and again Thursday due to inclement weather.

“We’ve been able to get a lot of plays and work done in a controlled indoor environment with reducing the risk of possible injury on the field or last week, air quality,” offensive coordinator Greg Olson said. “We feel like we’ve got a tremendous amount of work done when we did it, so that’s kind of what makes the decision a little bit easier when you look at the amount of work that we got when we were there during the poor air quality practices.”

Martavis Bryant also missed his eighth straight practice with a knee injury, but Olson said the receiver will return this season.
