Raiders fans send message on Vegas, fly banner over Oakland Coliseum

OAKLAND – The Raiders are playing on Sunday Night Football against the Denver Broncos, and local fans hoping to keep the team in Oakland are trying to capitalize on this platform to spread their message.

Raiders fan groups "Stay in Oakland," "Save Oakland Sports" and the "Oakland Raiders Booster Club" organized the effort to deter the Raiders from moving to Las Vegas, which included a plane flying above Oakland Coliseum before Sunday’s game displaying a sign that read, “Vegas, If You Build It, We Won’t Come.”

The booster clubs also distributed 10,000 signs with the same slogan on one side, and “Stay in Oakland: Commitment to the East Bay” on the other.

The Raiders are pressing for a move to Las Vegas, with the state of Nevada approving $750 million in public funds to stadium construction for a building that has a workable financing plan and could have the Raiders playing in Sin City by 2020.

There is a strong grassroots effort to keep the Raiders from leaving Oakland a second time, though the Raiders have their sights set on Vegas.
