The Raiders are doing their due diligence with this year's quarterback class, and they're starting at the top.
Head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock reportedly had dinner with reigning Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray Sunday night, and followed that up with a private workout of the presumptive top signal-caller in this month's draft on Monday.
Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock had dinner with Kyler Murray at Al Biernat's last night in Dallas. Murray's father, agent and 5 receivers are waiting for Gruden to get Murray off the white board to start today's workout at Highland Park HS, which has been delayed by at least 1.5 hours

The workout took place in the Dallas area, where Gruden put Murray's skills to the test on both the whiteboard and the playing field. The Raiders will also work out former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins on Tuesday, but will limit their quarterback workouts to those two alone.

It appears Gruden either came away from the workout with a souvenir, or was simply dressed for the occasion. He was spotted at the Dallas airport sporting an Oakland A's hat signed by Murray.

Mayock previously has stated he believes Derek Carr to be a franchise quarterback, so it would appear neither Murray nor Haskins would be a fit for any one of the Raiders' three first-round picks. Still, Gruden is a known quarterback fanatic, and it never hurts to have firsthand information on some of the most hotly debated prospects in the draft.
