Raiders injury report: Trent Brown formally questionable vs. Chiefs

Share

ALAMEDA – Trent Brown has been battling various injuries most of the season. A knee ailment has been limiting him during most practice weeks, including this one leading up to Sunday’s AFC West clash in Kansas City.

He was limited over two practices and participated in a pre-practice walk-through Friday but didn’t stick around for the physical parts of the session.

That led the Raiders to designate him as questionable Friday on their official injury report. Odds are solid he’ll play against the Chiefs, with some extra rest preparing him for game day better than a late November practice could.

David Sharpe must be at the ready in situations like this. The reserve offensive tackle is coming off a calf injury but is healthy again and ready to step in when necessary.

Sharpe always is ready to go, never a bad or unlucky snap away from entering a game on either side of the line. He has had to step into a game without a moment’s notice this year and he has started for Brown, representing himself well on both occasions.

“Week in and week out you stay focused on the game plan because you never know when you’ll be called upon,” Sharpe said. “In situations like this, when the starter is dealing with something, you really have to be on your toes.”

Brown is tough as they come and has battled through his injury while generally staying on the field.

“We’ve done everything we can to help him manage it,” head coach Jon Gruden said. “We’ll continue to do that.”

Hunter Renfrow was ruled out earlier in the week, and Lamarcus Joyner progressed to the point where he has been taken off the injury report.
