Raiders RB Latavius Murray selected to first Pro Bowl

The Raiders keep adding volume to their Pro Bowl roster. It started with two, then three and four.

Sunday made it five.

Raiders running back Latavius Murray was added to the NFL's all-star game on Sunday night, adding to a huge contingent headed for Honolulu. Murray, quarterback Derek Carr, edge defender Khalil Mack, safety Charles Woodson and receiver Amari Cooper will head for the Hawaiian islands soon.

This Pro Bowl will be waged Jan. 31 at Aloha Stadium in Hawaii featuring a Raiders running back who exceeded 1,000 yards for the first time since 2010.

Murray was second among the AFC's leading rushers, totaling 1,066 yards and six touchdowns on 266 carries. He also had 41 receptions for 232 yards.

Murray considered his season unsatisfactory, yet stood tall among the league's finest backs. He didn't like the fact that the Raiders finished 28th in rushing with 91.1 yards per game. Murray sparked the run game with explosive plays, but the team's effort wasn't consistent enough to be considered a solid running team.

Despite the fact that Murray said his 1,000-yard season – the first by a Raider since Darren McFadden’s 2010 effort – felt like a disappointment, the effort was more of a sign that the 2013 sixth-round pick started to realize vast potential in just his first season as a primary back.
