Tollefson ‘verbally agrees' to sign with Raiders

Free-agent defensive end Dave Tollefson has "verbally agreed" to sign with the Raiders, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to CSNCalifornia.com early Friday evening.The Contra Costa Times first reported the agreement.The Raiders have not confirmed it. The team does not announce signings until pen is put to paper and the transaction becomes official.Tollefson would provide much-needed depth to the Raiders' defensive line in particular, their pass rush in general, after Oakland lost the services of linebacker Kamerion Wimbley to free agency.
The Walnut Creek native has 10 12 sacks and 81 tackles in 63 career games over the past five years with the New York Giants, as well as a pair of Super Bowl rings. Last season, he had a career-best five sacks in 16 games.A seventh-round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2006 out of Northwest Missouri State, Tollefson is also a former member of the Raiders' practice squad.The 6-feet-4, 263-pound Tollefson, who turns 31 on May 19, also visited the Seattle Seahawks, Packers, and Titans.
