SAN JOSE – The Sharks kick off the month of March with more injury news, as Evander Kane will miss San Jose’s Friday night faceoff against the Colorado Avalanche.
Kane missed Thursday’s full-team practice at Sharks Ice, with coach Peter DeBoer saying the winger was taking a maintenance day. On Friday he was ruled out with an undisclosed injury. DeBoer indicated the ailment was neither upper or lower body, but called it "unexpected" and said he hoped Kane would only be out short-term.
Kane was at the center of a contentious contest between the Sharks and Bruins on Tuesday evening after he exchanged punches with Zdeno Chara. Kane was visibly upset after the Chara elbowed him in the head along the boards and went after the 6-foot-9 defenseman.
After the game, Kane was vocal about the lack of call for the hit. Chara did not receive any further discipline from the league following the game.

The Sharks gave no indication the incident has anything to do with Tuesday’s incident.
Kane has registered 51 points (27 goals, 24 assists) in 64 games played for San Jose this season.
