Sharks trade goalie Hill to rival Knights for fourth-round pick

The San Jose Sharks have traded a goalie.

San Jose Hockey Now has learned that the Sharks have traded Adin Hill to the Vegas Golden Knights for the Golden Knights’ 2024 fourth-round pick. (Editor's note: The trade is now official).

For the Sharks, this reduces their logjam in goal. Between Kaapo Kahkonen, James Reimer, and Hill, San Jose had three NHL-caliber netminders, each making about the same money.

25-year-old Kahkonen is signed for two more years with a $2.75 million dollar AAV, 34-year-old Reimer has another season with a $2.25 million AAV, and 26-year-old Hill has one more year with a $2.175 million AAV.

This paves the way for a Kahkonen-Reimer duo for the San Jose Sharks this year and will give GM Mike Grier some cap relief.

Also, the 2024 fourth-round pick makes up for the 2024 fourth-round pick that the Sharks sent to the Arizona Coyotes for Lane Pederson last off-season. San Jose traded a 2022 second-round pick to Arizona for Hill last off-season.

For Vegas, Hill adds another NHL-caliber netminder to their depleted goaltending corps.
