Sharks

For the fourth time in eight Stanley Cup playoff games this year, the Sharks gave up the go-ahead goal within the first three minutes.

Avalanche forward Gabriel Bourque buried the rebound from Cale Makar's point shot, giving Colorado a 1-0 lead over San Jose just 2:10 into their Stanley Cup playoff second-round series Friday night.

The period didn't end with a 1-0 deficit for the Sharks, however. Twelve-and-a-half minutes later, Gustav Nyquist scored his first goal of the postseason to tie the score.

The Sharks didn't have much success when they failed to score first in their first-round series, losing all but one game to the rival Vegas Golden Knights in which they gave up the initial marker. The one they didn't lose, of course, was a wild 5-4 overtime win in Game 7 on Tuesday, setting up Friday's game with the Avalanche. They did, however, beat the Avalanche 5-2 in their regular-season finale on April 6 despite allowing the game's first goal 2:56 into the first period.

As the Sharks' tying goal in the same period showed, there's still plenty of hockey left to play.
