Leicester City suddenly find themselves in a race for UEFA Champions League qualification.
After spending much of the season second in the table, the third-place Foxes have been lapped by defending champion Manchester City and enter Monday's match against Aston Villa just two points clear of fourth-place Chelsea and five points clear of fifth-place Manchester United. A home match against a club in the relegation places could be just what the doctor ordered, and Leicester aren't yet in any real danger of missing out on Europe next season. Yet Manchester City's ban from European competition is under appeal, and United and Chelsea's surges might have Brendan Rodgers sweating from Leicester's dugout.
He won't be sweating as much as Dean Smith, whose Villa side enter Monday's match in 19th place. The Villans have two matches in hand and are two points from safety, but the danger of yo-yoing back into the Championship is very real in Birmingham. Villa already drew Leicester at the King Power Stadium in the Carabao Cup in January, and replicating that result could prove critical in avoiding relegation.
