Liverpool have blown previous four Christmas Day Premier League leads

Liverpool can't possibly screw things up this season, can they?

The Reds wake up on Christmas Day 2019 with a commanding 10-point lead over Leicester City atop the Premier League table.

It's the fifth time Liverpool have held the top spot when Santa slid down chimneys. But in each of the previous four occurrences, they came up empty at the end of the Premier League season.

As The Daily Mail pointed out, the Reds squandered Christmas Day leads during the 1996-97, 2008-09, 2013-14 and 2018-19 seasons.

But this season could be different for the Reds, as they have yet to drop a match. Entering their Boxing Day showdown against the Foxes, Liverpool are 16-0-1.

It's been 30 years since Liverpool won English football's top trophy, but that drought might end soon.

We'll find out in May if Santa brought Liverpool a Premier League title.
