The U.S. finished in first but was disqualified due to an apparent handoff error. Lynna Irby appeared to received the baton outside of the takeoff zone for the second leg of the race.

Team USA appealed the disqualification and won. The handoff reportedly happened outside the takeoff zone because of an official error rather than Irby’s error.
