Possible Warriors target Moody uses Klay as inspiration

Moses Moody is one of a number of players the Warriors will be eyeing with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, and he already draws inspiration for his game from a current Golden State star.

"I take a lot from a lot of different players, Khris Middleton is doing a lot right now for the Bucks, Klay Thompson is a guy that I could really say that about," Moody told ESPN's Mike Schmitz from the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago. "C.J. McCollum, Devin Booker is my favorite player so there's things I'd like to take from his game as well."

Moody, a 6-foot-6 guard hailing from Arkansas, certainly shows glimpses of Thompson with his relentless pursuit on defense. As a freshman, Moody helped lead the Razorbacks to an Elite Eight run in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

A 7-foot wingspan enables Moody to contest and bother opposing guards, as well as defend players taller than himself.

Moody averaged 16.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and shot 35.8 percent from 3-point range during his lone collegiate season. One of the younger players in this year's draft class, Moody still has plenty of room to grow, especially when it comes to creating opportunities for his teammates.

The embodiment of a 3-and-D specialist in college, Moody's skills could translate well in the league right away. He could develop into a good, if not great overall NBA player, but his current skill set would be valuable for the Warriors' bench next season.

The Warriors hope to have Thompson back sometime in the early part of next season, and he could be joined by a player who has grown up trying to emulate him.
