Who experts have Warriors drafting with No. 7, No. 14 pick

The Warriors woke up Wednesday morning in quite the interesting spot.

After landing the No. 7 and No. 14 picks in the 2021 NBA Draft Lottery, the Warriors can go a lot of ways. History is on their side, too.

With Steph Curry as perhaps the greatest player to be taken with the seventh pick ever, and Tim Hardaway being no slouch at No. 14, Golden State has to be smiling.

The Warriors of course could use either of their two picks for a trade package. But if they keep their picks, here's who experts have the Warriors taking with their two first-rounders.

James Ham, NBC Sports Bay Area

No. 7: Scottie Barnes, SF, Florida State: "Barnes has drawn comparisons to Draymond Green, which is high praise. He could find himself working alongside the All-NBA defender early in his career. This would give the Warriors another ferocious defender and a potential partner to play alongside big man James Wiseman for the future."

No. 14: Franz Wagner, SF, Michigan: "This is a nice insurance policy to have in case Klay Thompson doesn’t regain his All-Star form. Either way, Golden State needs to get younger and start planning for the future."

Jonathan Givony, ESPN

No. 7: Davion Mitchell, PG, Baylor: "Mitchell is one of the best in the draft on defense, an area in which the Warriors fell off markedly this past season, while also possessing strong playmaking and shot-making instincts that should allow him to operate in a variety of lineup configurations alongside their existing core."

No. 14: James Bouknight, SG, Connecticut: "Bouknight's scoring instincts, ability to hit difficult shots off the dribble and long-term potential could be very attractive at this stage of the draft."

Jonathan Wasserman, Bleacher Report

No. 7: Franz Wagner, SF, Michigan: "Wagner may seem like a reach at No. 7, but his shoot-dribble-pass skill set may be too clean of a fit for the Golden State Warriors."

No. 14: Corey Kispert, SF, Gonzaga: "Kispert seems like a good bet to go in the late lottery, even though his age (22), athleticism and limited versatility are obvious drawbacks."

Kevin O'Connor, The Ringer

No. 7: Davion Mitchell, PG, Baylor: "If you consider what Golden State was missing last season, it’s a player like him. Mitchell could help now, and be a bridge toward sustaining success into the future."

No. 14: Chris Duarte, SG/SF, Oregon: "Finding a balance is often a best-case scenario, but in this case the Warriors could have him come in right away and make an impact on his affordable rookie contract, serving as a valuable backup to Steph Curry and Klay Thompson."

Sam Vecenie, The Athletic

No. 7: James Bouknight, SG, Connecticut: "Bouknight is the kind of creative force who can put pressure on the rim. His ability to create off the bounce in between Curry and Klay Thompson would be a blast to watch."

No. 14: Usman Garuba, PF/C, Real Madrid: "To me, Garuba is a spectacular fit whose ability to read the game defensively would appeal to this Warriors team."
