Today was a big day for Alfonzo McKinnie. Why?

Well, because the Warriors forward's contract is now officially guaranteed for the rest of the season.

Golden State could have waived him by today and not owed him another penny.

Now, the 26-year old will make $1,349,383 total, plus whatever he receives in a playoff share. A few days before the regular season started, he signed a 2-year deal -- which means the Warriors hold a team option on McKinnie for the 2019-20 campaign worth about $1.5 million.

It's unclear when Golden State has to decide on the option. It's possible that it's just like this season and doesn't become fully guaranteed until early January 2020.

Over his first 16 appearances, McKinnie averaged 6.3 points and 3.8 rebounds, while shooting over 51 percent overall and 48.4 percent from deep.

He then missed nine games with a sore foot. Since returning, he is averaging 4.1 points and 3.4 rebounds, while shooting just over 40 percent from the field and 24 percent from 3-point territory.

Congratulations to Mr. McKinnie.
