Iguodala responds to infamous Max Kellerman yearbook quote

Share

Andre Iguodala was up pretty late Sunday night.

We know this because of his social media activity.

The former Warriors forward replied to a tweet from Taylor Keating -- a recent graduate of Pleasant Valley High School in Chico.

Fantastic stuff all the way around.

The quote "I want Iguodala" originates from June 3, 2019 -- the day after the 2015 NBA Finals MVP drilled the dagger 3-pointer in the closing seconds to lift the Warriors to a Game 2 victory over the Toronto Raptors in the Finals.

On ESPN's morning show "First Take," Max Kellerman was asked: "Who do you want taking the last shot: Iggy or Steph?"

The answer created many headlines.

"I want Iguodala," Kellerman declared. "That's right. And I know what that sounds like. And it's not fair to Steph because so much defensive attention is paid to him. And I'm not saying Steph's not a better shooter -- he's a way better shooter.

"Iguodala's got ice water in his veins ... high-leverage moment -- fate of the universe on the line -- open shot ... I want Iguodala taking that shot for me."

Kellerman over the last two years has been made fun of quite a bit for his take. And to this day he stands by what he said.

But that's not the point right now.

Kudos to Keating for actually submitting that quote (we presume to his yearbook), and kudos to Iguodala for the response.
