Iguodala's perfect joke about what Dubs' 2021-22 season felt like

The Warriors’ 2021-22 championship season was anything but expected.

“Interesting” was the word Andre Iguodala used to describe the up and down year before proceeding to further break down his peculiar 18th season in the league.

“It was a great year because we were able to finish it off the way we did in terms of winning the championship,” Iguodala told NBC Sports Bay Area Warriors insider Monte Poole on a recent Dubs Talk. “And I always joke about how it was like a money heist, that’s what it felt like to me.”

Iguodala played in just 31 games last season, averaging 4.0 points, 3.7 assists and 3.4 rebounds in those games, but his impact was strong as ever

In the first game of the regular season vs. the Los Angeles Lakers, the 38-year-old forward finished with 12 points, shooting 57.1 percent from the field and 40 percent from the 3-point line in the Warriors' win.

Injuries limited his game-time action, but the veteran was still able to help from the sidelines. And coach Iguodala was in full force during Golden State's postseason run that helped the Warriors win their fourth title in eight seasons.

“I started off really well, the body was feeling really good, dunking a lot, I dunked at the end of the year [too]. Sometimes you gotta remind yourself who you are," Iguodala explained to Poole. "I was watching a clip from the Utah [Jazz] game and I was like ‘Oh I actually had some good games this year.’

"And then even in the Finals the short stints that I had, it was kind of like the safety valve, I was still able to go out there and maintain the game and make sure I kept things intact, and then kind of held up for the guys to come back and do their jobs, which they did."

Now the only question that remains is whether Iguodala will suit up for the Dubs next year in hopes of running back another so-called "money heist."
