Anthony Davis gives curious explanation for wearing ‘That's All Folks' shirt

By now, you've seen it.

Anthony Davis walking into Smoothie King Center wearing a "Looney Tunes" shirt that read: "That's All Folks."

Davis' public trade demand was one of the strangest occurrences of any NBA season. With another year left on his contract, the 25-year-old star thought he could leverage the Pelicans into trading him to the Lakers prior to the trade deadline in February. It didn't happen, and the fallout from the situation effectively destroyed both the Pelicans' and Lakers' seasons.

As strange as the trade demand and subsequent drama were, it might not hold a candle to Davis' explanation for his shirt.

It seemed apparent that Davis was sending a message to the Pelicans that Tuesday would be his final game with the organization, but that wasn't the case.

"I didn't choose it," Davis said, via ESPN's Nick Friedell. "I actually didn't choose it. It was hanging for me already when I put my clothes on."

Wait, what now? Someone just left the shirt there. Was it Rich Paul? Did LeBron James fly over and give his potential future running mate a gift?

Regardless of how it got there, Davis loved it because he's a big fan of the cartoon.

"I love them all," Davis said. "I'm a big cartoon guy. Looney Tunes is actually my favorite."

Of course, Davis heard the jokes about him starring in "Space Jam 2," the movie James reportedly is having issues recruiting stars to be in, but he's trying not to pay attention to the commentary on his wardrobe.

"I saw some stuff," Davis said. "Well, I heard some stuff actually. Heard some stuff about Space Jam, I heard some stuff about [how] this is a shot at the Pelicans, 'Oh, this is his last game.' I heard it all, but it doesn't matter to me."

It certainly feels like Davis will be elsewhere next season.

The Lakers, in their quest to dethrone the Warriors, certainly will continue conversations once they replace Magic Johnson as president of basketball operations. The Knicks, who have dreams of pairing Davis with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, will try to put a package together should they land the two marquee stars. And we can't forget about Danny Ainge and the Celtics, who likely still have the most attractive package to offer the Pelicans, with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and a plethora of picks.

Once free agency ends, and Durant, Irving and the lot have made their decisions — should they choose to enter free agency at all — Davis again will be the talk of the NBA.

Just in time for "Space Jam 2" to wrap production.
