Wiggs flattered by Baron comparison after epic Luka dunk

The Andrew Wiggins dunk, yes, you know which one, powered its way to join some elite company.

And rightfully so.

Warriors fans -- and the rest of the NBA world -- are comparing Wiggins’ vicious poster dunk over Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Dončić to the iconic Baron Davis dunk in 2007.

While time will tell where Wiggins’ dunk ranks all-time, Dub Nation is already convinced the monster throwdown earned a spot near the top of Warriors history.

“That’s amazing,” Wiggins told NBC Sports Bay Area’s Grant Liffmann. “That’s good because there’s been a lot of good dunks, a lot of athletic plays. I’m so happy to be up there.”

Wiggins took flight and threw down a dunk over Dončić in the Warriors’ 109-100 win over the Mavericks in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals on Sunday.

The dunk made fans watching live jump out of their seats, but the various replays and different angles are jaw-dropping.

Even Wiggins himself admitted he has seen a couple of clips and can’t pick a favorite because he likes them all.

A few moments after the viral play, Davis showed love to Wiggins on Twitter for his impressive dunk.

And from one elite Warriors dunker to another, the respect for one another is mutual.

“That’s a classic right there,” Wiggins said while watching the unforgettable Davis dunk. “An all-time classic, not just Warriors, that’s like all-time classic dunks right there.”

Of course, he’s referring to Davis’ unbelievable dunk over Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko in the second round of the 2007 NBA playoffs that for so long has been THE dunk of the Warriors franchise.

As far as where Wiggins thinks his dunk will land in NBA history?

“I don’t know, we shall see in the future,” Wiggins told Liffmann. “We’ll see what happens with it. But that Baron Davis dunk, definitely a classic.”
