Simmons gushes about ‘outrageous' Poole, ranks LaMelo behind him

The Bill Simmons love-fest for Jordan Poole continues.

After proclaiming him “off the table” for any future trades, Simmons has him almost at the top of his dynamic up-and-coming guards list, most notably higher than LaMelo Ball.

His rankings:

  1. Darius Garland
  2. Jordan Poole
  3. Tyrese Haliburton
  4. LaMelo Ball
  5. Tyrese Maxey
  6. Tyler Herro

“If I had told you two months ago, I wouldn’t even have thrown Poole in that list,” Simmons reflected on The Bill Simmons Podcast. “I think we would have been like, ‘Wow Poole, it's impressive just to get invited to that group.’”

Ryen Russillo, also a big Jordan Poole fan (both he and Simmons voted for Poole as their top choice for Most Improved Player) interjected, “His life is easier with Golden State, but I've seen him blow by literally everybody that tries to square up with him. I don't think it's all just because of the gravity of Steph and Klay.”

Poole certainly showed off that blow-by prowess in Game 3 vs. the Memphis Grizzlies, highlighted by the “I’m really him” dunk that had the Warriors' home crowd going bonkers.

“[It’s] his first step,” Simmons surmised. “But he also has the Booker thing where when he's in the paint, he can do the pivot and pivot it back into like a little 12 foot fall away... It's outrageous. I can't believe he's turned into this... He's demolishing the playoffs.”

And Poole is having fun as well, as he and Steph Curry showed with their viral swing-dance move in the lane.

If this ascendance continues, it could be Dub Nation soon dancing in the streets, potentially celebrating another title.
