Warriors GM Myers details possible Wiseman-KG workouts

James Wiseman underwent surgery April 15 to repair a meniscal tear in his right knee.

Are the Warriors still planning on having the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 draft work out with Kevin Garnett this offseason?

"We had KG set up prior to the injury. He was coming. We were just gonna figure out when," Golden State president of basketball operations Bob Myers said Wednesday on 95.7 The Game's "The Morning Roast" show. "The thing now is you don't want to throw a guy (out there) that's not 100 percent healthy with KG -- or else you're in trouble (laughs). We got to wait until he's healthy."

The Warriors will have an official update on Wiseman in September, and they hope the big man is cleared in time for the start of training camp.

"Maybe he gets on the court a little bit before then," Myers said. "As soon as he can, we'd love to have him with a guy like that for many reasons. KG is pretty unique -- on the court and what he brings and the mentality. Exposing James to a guy like that [would be great].

"We [also] talked to David West and we were gonna get something going with him. So we have these people in mind that we think can really be helpful."

Wiseman averaged 11.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 39 games (27 starts) as a rookie. He shot 52 percent overall, 31.6 percent from deep and 62.8 percent from the free throw line.

And since the moment he arrived in the Bay Area, everybody in the organization has raved about the 20-year-old's work ethic.

"The good thing about James, is he really wants to be great -- almost to a fault," Myers said. "He's not the kid that would say, 'Nah, I gotta go home. I don't want to work today.'

"But yeah -- we're gonna line up that stuff as soon as we can."
