Davion Mitchell and Corey Kispert are two players connected to the Warriors in mock drafts at No. 7 and No. 14 respectively.
Mitchell worked out for the Dubs in San Francisco last Thursday, and Kispert was on the court at Chase Center last Friday.
But on Chad Ford's most recent podcast, the draft analyst delivered a "hot take" explanation for why Golden State should pass on both prospects.

"I'm gonna assume they keep the picks and I'm gonna go against conventional wisdom and say they should not take Davion Mitchell at No. 7 and Corey Kispert at No. 14," Ford began. "The conventional wisdom is go get guys that can come in and help you right now.
"Davion Mitchell can defend, Corey Kispert can stretch the floor [and] the Warriors are in win-now mode. I've been a Davion Mitchell guy for a really long time, but the track record of 22-year-old and older prospects really making their mark in the NBA is slim.
"You're much safer taking an 18-year-old or 19-year-old ... the odds are in your favor that you're taking the wrong guy at No. 7 if they're 22 years old.
"[Also] rookies are almost always bad, period -- regardless of whether they're 18 or 22. I don't think Steve Kerr is going to be giving major minutes to Davion Mitchell and Corey Kispert next year.

"And so you have sort of a double waste in my mind. You drafted guys to come in and help you now. But the chance that they're gonna actually be productive NBA players their rookie year is low. That's just sort of typically the case.
"I think the Warriors -- if they're gonna keep the picks -- should look to the future and say, 'We're not gonna count on these young players to help us right now, but we are building a foundation of players that will allow us to not sink into a major rebuild.'
"So taking one of these younger prospects that could pan out down the road ... to me that makes more sense for Golden State."
Mitchell was the national defensive player of the year last season at Baylor, while Kispert made 44 percent of his 3s on 6.5 attempts per game.
But this is a perfectly reasonable opinion from Ford, not really a "hot take" and it could be precisely how the front office is approaching the draft.

If so, then how exactly will Golden State be able to improve the roster in order to be a legitimate title contender in 2021-22? How will Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson view that philosophy? That's where free agency comes into play.
Perhaps the Warriors are able to sign several very solid contributors via the taxpayer mid-level exception and minimum contracts. And don't forget about Kelly Oubre, who could re-sign with the organization or agree to a sign-and-trade that allows the Warriors to bring back a role player.
And as always, you can't rule out some kind of blockbuster trade.
Ultimately, there are a million different scenarios in play, and it will be fascinating to see what the roster looks like three or four weeks from now.
