Charles Barkley says Warriors won't make playoffs to Klay Thompson's face

Charles Barkley never has been one to show the Warriors much love.

The Hall of Fame player-turned-TNT analyst has doubted the Warriors yet again -- and this time, right to Klay Thompson's face.

The Warriors’ star guard, recovering from an ACL tear, joined the “NBA on TNT” set during halftime of the Warriors-Clippers game Thursday night at Chase Center, and was faced with classic trolling from Chuck.

“I was wrong before the game," Barkley said, referring back to a pregame segment in which he predicted the Warriors would make the playoffs.

"I said they were going to be the 7, 8 seed. They’re not going to make the playoffs. They just can’t score enough.”

After being pressed by his TNT co-hosts to expand upon changing his opinion after one half of hoops, Barkley continued.

“When you look at your team you say, Steph [Curry] can get me 30, D’Angelo [Russell] can get me 20, Draymond [Green], even though he’s a heck of a player, he’s only going to get me 15," he said. "That’s not enough in the Western Conference this year.”

When Klay was given his chance to respond, he kept it professional.

“Chuck has a right to be a little pessimistic, but I think these young guys are going to step up,” he said.

The five-time All-Star went on to praise Warriors youngsters Jordan Poole, Glenn Robinson III and Marquese Chriss while acknowledging confidence that they have enough to make the playoffs for the eighth consecutive year.

Barkley infamously doubted the Warriors during the beginning of their dynastic run, claiming that jump-shooting teams never will win a championship.

Wrong.

Barkley also predicted the Rockets would beat the Warriors last season in the Western Conference semifinals after Kevin Durant’s injury,

Wrong again.

The Warriors lost their opener 141-122, but they have 81 more games to prove The Chuckster wrong for a third time. You can bet they’re up for the challenge.
