Stanford’s Tyrell Terry is one of those players that is all over NBA draft boards. Seldom do you see a player that in one mock draft is a lottery pick and in another is around No. 40.
There are concerns about Terry’s size coming into the NBA. Listed at 6-foot-1, 160-pounds during his time with the Cardinal, Terry has used the extended break during the coronavirus shutdown to transform his body.
He’s added at least 10 pounds of muscle and he recently measured in at a little over 6-foot-3 with shoes on.

There is a lot to like about the long-range sharpshooter. He’s a cerebral player who averaged 14.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists in his lone season at the NCAA level and he’s drawn comparisons to Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young, as well as two-time MVP Steph Curry.

During his Tuesday morning Zoom call with the media, Terry said that he has spoken to the Warriors and he was excited about the possibility of being an understudy to one of the legends of the game.
“Going to a place like Golden State would be a tremendous opportunity for me to learn under Steph,” Terry said. “If you can learn under someone like -- he’s one of the best shooters to ever play, would be incredible for me. I think learning from him for however many years he has left, would be incredible for me.”

Terry met Curry during the season when the six-time All-Star dropped by Stanford to work out.
“It wasn’t a long conversation, but I got to chit chat with him for a little bit,” Terry said. “He’s a very nice person, very cool guy.”
While Terry’s increased measurements certainly are going to move him up the draft board, getting a chance to play understudy to Curry might be a difficult proposition. The Warriors hold the No. 2 overall pick in the draft and they don’t select again until pick 48 in the second round.
Golden State would need to find a second first-round selection during the draft process and even then, Terry’s range makes it difficult to gauge how high that pick might need to be.
If somehow it worked out, it would be an interesting venture for the Warriors. Terry has unlimited range, like Curry, but he has a long way to go before he truly draws comparisons to the future Hall of Famer.
