A couple weeks ago, Kevin Durant joined The Bill Simmons Podcast and answered a bunch of fan questions.

Ryan from Baltimore asked why schools such as Maryland and Georgetown have struggled to sign some of the top high school players in the region.

Durant -- who is from the Washington D.C. area -- played his one year of college ball at Texas.

"I didn't want to stay home. I wanted to see what's outside that area," Durant explained. "I think a lot of kids to be honest, they don't choose Maryland unless they play in an Under Armour system coming up. Shoe companies have a real, real big influence on where these kids go.

"Nobody wants to play in Under Armours, I'm sorry. The top kids don't, because they all play Nike."

Simmons chimed in: "Have you talked to Steph about this?"

Durant's answer: "No, but come on man. Everybody knows that. Nobody want to say nothin.'"

On Sunday, Steph Curry acknowledged that he "had a conversation" with Durant about what the 2017 Finals MVP said.

“This is nothing that is going to put a wrench in the locker room,” Curry told Scott Fowler of The Charlotte Observer. "I told him that he has a certain opinion based on his experience growing up in the Nike business. What that means when it comes to the competition among shoe brands and universities and the whole grassroots system and whatnot – he’s entitled to that opinion obviously.

"But when it comes to what I’m trying to do with Under Armour, and what the Curry brand means and what Under Armour basketball means, that statement does not ring true at all.”

Fowler asked Curry if Durant's comments angered the two-time MVP.

“Nah ... I understand how what we do and the team that we are and the success we’ve had, no matter what anybody says it’s going to be blowing up ... especially when it’s the opportunity to make it look (controversial).

"Like I said, it’s nothing that’s going to break up the locker room.”
